Front Speaker Replacement 1989 Formula 350

After 15 years in storage I have broken out my Formula 350 and brought it home. Before I take to have the headliner redone I want to replace the speakers.

How do does one access the front dash speakers? Can it be done from the top of the dash, or does it have to be accessed under the dash?

Does anyone know?

Thanks in advance

Top of the dash........remove the 4 screws close to the windshield and the ones under the from of the dash. Lift up and out. Speakers are right there.

And before you buy replacements, go to crutchfield.com and check their fitment listing for various brands. You got those vent ducts on one side that the magnet will hit. 4X6 is the biggest you will get in there.

Bob88GTA is right. The front speakers are a lot easier to get to than it appears. 4X6 speakers are an odd size but thats all that will go in there.

After 15 yrs. in storage I would assume the car is all stock.Just letting you know that the front speakers are still available through your local GM Dealer, but you can get both of those for the price of one at GM Parts Cheap - OEM Genuine at Wholesale

Its funny how you can get factory speakers over 25 years old, yet try to buy a EGR Solenoid for an 88 5.7, AND many other parts, only to find out they are discontinued and no longer available.

No wonder GM needs bailed out!

Alpine makes a set of 4x6 speakers that fit. (I run them) They are model # SPS-406. Make sure to get the speaker wire connectors from Crutchfield (simple plug and play, no cutting, no splicing)

You need to get a couple of spare EGR Solenoids when someone advertises there breaking up a car.

higher power speakers sound like crap unless you have a hu that puts out the power they are rated at. the stock one puts out incredibly little.
