well I killed the alternator in my 92Z last night (my battery is also shot, waiting for a yellow top optima in the mail) I need a new alternator and figured I'd get a high output one because I put a serious drain with my stereo system (fosgate 600a4 and 1100a2 with only a 1 farad lightning cap) where do I wanna buy one and does anyone have some good part numbers? this isn't a competition car of any sorts I just want something durable, and to have no more fear of charging problems I had before.

Summit & Jegs sell the 160 amp alternator for like $160. Or try a local parts store but I seriously doubt that they carry an alternator w/ that high of an amperage. I am getting that Yellow Top Optima when my system gets completed tomorrow. Good luck.

now is that summit alternator just gonna drop right in? I haven't taken alot of time to look at my camaro yet, haven't really had any but will the case size etc, all be the same and just swap right over or am I gonna need to do some custom work on it??
