Re: 89 Convertible System

Very nice work. I like the idea of keeping the original lines of the side compartments. Did you just map the original curvature and then expand it? Did you have to remove the trunk motor to get the box in?

I made the box in two pieces the main part of the box has a ring so I can bolt the top baffle to it when it's in the car so I don't have to remove the motor, move wires or cables or realign anything, it just seemed easier for me this way although their is nothing wrong with the other way, just a different way. I used the OEM rear panel just sanded it cut it and recovered it in suede and leather. The side panels I made to to fallow the same lines as the rear one and molded it to attach seamless to the rear panel.

Re: 89 Convertible System

They are actually pressure fit but are held on by the trunk weatherstrip and the bottom piece that covers the Plexiglas. There is a gap around the piece that allows the gasket to slip between it when it is installed and the bubbly part of the gasket makes for no gaps to be seen. And when the bottom piece is installed it keeps separation for the two sides from sliding down. So its kinda pressure fit. Still working great as of today.

Re: 89 Convertible System

No hyperbole, that is honestly one of if not the best looking setup I've seen in a thirdgen. Very impressive.
