How many speakers in YOUR system?
How many speakers in YOUR system?
I'm just curious, How many speakers including subs are in your system, and where are they located?( dash, kicks, doors etc.) Also, are you happy with your over all sound?
I have a set of rockford p series components in q forms kick panels.. I hate the p series, but luckily I'll be getting a nice set of Focal 130k's for them so that should make it sound nice.. I've got 2 12" Infinity perfects with a Rockford 800a2 running them (a pioneer 70x2 running the fronts).. Oh, and a set of Rockford 6x9's in the back (don't have anything but fills going to them though).. The subs are awesome and the overall sound is very good but I definatly think that I will hear a big difference going to the focals.. I'm probly going to add a line driver and equalized, as well as a 200amp alternator and an optima yellow top battery..

Used to have MB Quart components in q-forms, but now they are in the dash (needed the foot room), 6x9s in the stock locations, 1 10" sub in the hatch well.

My speaker types are in my sig.....the subs are in a board and the speakers are in the stock mounting positions. The sound is very good. I thought about using a box for the subs but I wanted to still be able to use the space for storing T-tops and spare tire. I've thought about getting kick panel adapters but in my opinion are not worth the money.

Nope. I have rear fill in my 86, and to be honest I don't mind it, but my IROC images so well that I really don't want to take away from that with the fill. Plus, my deck is pre-out only, so I would need to get an amp for the rear fill. That would involve more cost than it's worth to me.

Back in 1989 a friend of mine wanted to go see a Formula for sale. The guy selling the car was asking I think 26,000 for the car! It was an 88 I think, not sure.
Anyway, the car had t-tops and the system contained 42 speakers in all!! I kid you not. He had tweeters all up and underneath the t-top liner and doors and with a mix of 6s and 8s lining the rear passenger area and a few 10 sitting in the rear deck area....
As a matter of fact, it was the same year that Queensryche (sp?) had came out with the album that had 'Silent Lucidity' on it. All I know is that it did sound awesome and I never heard anything like it since then, very sweet in my opinion, but way to much money into a car system.
Knowing what I know now I really wish I had a photo of that sucker to show you guys..

Rockford 5.25" Fanatic P separates in kick panels, 8" Lanzar 3-ways in 6x9 location, and 2 MTX 3000 series 10" subs. So I guess if you want to count every tweeter, that's 12 speakers.
Overall, the sound is very good, although I need more power!
The front speakers aren't that great or anything, but they work decently, came with crossovers, and they were pretty cheap.

I have a 1987 Z which contains in the hatch a custom box(made by me) that contains a JL 15 and 2 Alpine 6x9's. The JL is powered by a Punch 200, and the Alpines are powered by a Jensen 220. In the stock 6x9 outlets i have Phase Lenier 6x9's also running off of the Jensen 220. In the dash where the stock speakers were i have 2 Phase Lenier 4's and 2 Phase Lenier 2's running off of a Jensen 80 (hey what can i say, i like Jensen amps, they sound good). Now back to the hatch , i have a Eclipse 6 disc, running to a Eclipse head unit/tape player. Accessiories include a couple green bass neons in the hatch.

I am also running a Lightning Audio 1 farad capacitor to my 1000D as well as a 1.5 Din Pioneer deck with a built in 9 band equalizer. That is a total of 10 speakers (12 including the tweets). Thanx!

Ummm, Let's see.... The big "H" on the steering wheel says "You lose!"
(kidding)
Nice lookin setup, even if it is in a Honda.
I have 7 speakers right now, and probably won't add any, just change some.
Up front in the dash, Kicker resolution R4's and ND25 tweeters. Rear, Kicker Impulse 6x9 with the tweeter disabled. Hatch, 1 (you guessed it) Kicker! Solo12L7 square sub.
It sounds pretty decent now, but when I change the 6x9's out for a pair of 8's it should sound much better. I've been kickin around the thought of 6's in the doors, but there isn't enough room with manual windows if I want to be able to operate the windows. Maybe I'll just put in power windows!

Working on:
'84 Z28 LG4 305
Added dual elec fans.
145 MPH IROC Speedo
Building 430 HP 350
using primarily GMPP parts.
Block is in shop!
Awaiting results from all 8 ASE tests.
Starting to look like the Kicker poster child!

It's just fun going to the track when your sitting in staging lanes watching tv, then you run a 13.60's..
A lot of the camaro/mustang guys actually were quite impressed with it.. Since the car looks stock and all.

I'll post more about the system later, like details and brands, i've had a little to drink tonight so I'm sure i would leave tons out.

No thanks Shiner!!! Go to a Honda page!!!
My monster system is enque with my ride. Meaning that I spent as little as posible. Nothing stolen though, atleast I think. I have a 15 year old Sony cd player that I bought at the swap meet for $25 bucks. A Kenford four channel amp (yes, KENFORD. don't ask, it was $40 bucks) That runs Infinity 4x6 plates in the dash and 6x9s in the rear. Added to the plates are polk tweeters on the face of the dash. Then for the lows, a 10" MTX Thunder 3000 in a Bazooka tube run by a Power Acoustic amp. An Infinity X-over to seperate the channels. According to the specs of the amps, I have something like 1,000 watts. Yeah right!!!
No, I do not win contests, I have other cars for that. But it sounds good enough for now.

If you have multiple speakers with an overlapping frequency range it tends to muddy the sound. Why do you think component speaker sets come with crossovers?
All you need is a good set of components up front and a sub or two in back (ideally the subs would be up front too, but that's not practical in a car and since it's harder to "pinpoint" the source of lower frequency sounds, it's acceptable to have it in the back.)
I tend to compare systems with way too many speakers to some cars I see with three sets of fog lights in the front.
This is unless you talk about SPL situations, in which you want as many subs as you can get into the car. How challenging is that though? Mostly about how much money you have as opposed to how much skill and brainpower you have. Same for hotrodding IMHO.
Sorry, just blowing off some steam from my nearly $300 speeding ticket tonight.

As far as stereos go, Here's what I got:
Kenwood CD player
Kenwood Digital Sound Processor
Kenwood 50w x 4 channel amp
Kenwood 150w for sub
MTX 4"x6" in the stock positions up front
Kenwood 3-way 6"x9" in stock rear spots
One Bazooka RS 10" in back
It sounds very nice and clean. It won't win competitions but it sounds great.

"ShinerBockSi",
In case you don't get it, your Import crap isn't wanted here. I respect the fact that you install stereos, but this is a Third Generation Firebird & Camaro website. It is for Third Gens only. So if you want to flaunt your pics of imports, take it to those other websites you refered to ealier.

First of all, i would like to say that everyone is welcomed on the car audio board. Even the {gasp} Stang guys.
However, the main theme is 3rd gens. We seem to be getting off topic and the chance of name call seems to be increasing, therefore, i'm closing this thread.
