opinions with this setup in my 91 rs convertible

i think i've finally decided what to so with my convertible. take out just the bottom back seats and leave the fold down backs there. put a box where the seats were to hold 2 kicker 12" square subs. try to get the box to where it could still be used as a back seat if need be since these subs don't need that much air space. now, would you mount the subs under the box faceing down, or would you have them faceing torwards the front of the car? what would sound better? what amp would you get for them? and last, do you think it would work, and how would it sound you think? i'll prob get the pioneer 8200 cd deck and pioneer 6x9's with pioneer kick panels as well. open for opinions and suggestions. thanks

i think your crazy. if you have all that money then i would get a custom box to fit down into the trunk well like everyone else thats rich, get one that holds two 15"s... that **** would be sick. That pioneer deck is phat, but why not say a couple $100 and go with the DEH4200, or DEH5200... just not as many options and stuff. good choice on subs. go big with the box, cuz your gonna wish you had a full back seat for something sooner or later.

well, i'm far from being rich :-), i just take alot of pride in my two camaros. i have 2 15's now in my coupe, and wanted to try something different. and i heard a whole lot about these kicker subs and wanted to get them because they are different. i figured that it would sound better in the back seat area instead of in trunk with the rattleing. i have the 8200 pioneer deck now in my coupe and just love it. thanks for the response.

well kicker is a great company, and the new "square L7's" are from what i hear outstanding. one 10" bumps louder thand most two 12"s (so i hear). But if you go the money then its all you!... ME on the other hand probably have the worst system, and is probably a disgrace to this Car Audio Board.
i have two 8" JBL POWER GT series subs with a 680w Power Acoutiks Amp, Blaupunkt 6x9s/4x6s, and the stock swivelling berlinetta radio (its one of a kind i think). I had a Pioneer Cd changer hooked up and i put it in the rear tool box for security. and i mounted the amp on the under side of the little trunk well lockable door, and my subs are in the trunk well.. im more worried about security, lol. But on top of all this, im extremely happy with this sound quality, and i only paid $125. cdchanger was b-day present, amp was free, subs $100 off a friend, and cables were $25...HAHA, i like how it sounds personally.. and when a burglar looks inside they only see the ACDelco radio...HEY im only 17 fellas, **** this is long, peace

hey, you can't beat that price for all of that. my first system last year was an mtx 12'sub and a jbl 12'sub mounted on a peice of plywood in the trunk, with a pioneer 722 amp. when i first heard it, i was like wow. then i upgraded everything to two 12's pioneer dvc subs with that standard camaro box and 2 pioneer 722 amps with a sony cd deck and pioneer 3 way 6x9s, til it all got stolen about 3 months after install while at work one night. :-( it still bothers me to think about it, not to mention my 6 month year old glock 26 too they took. and on top of that i was told that my work would pay for it for me, and a week later i was fired for having a weapon on the property. i was a counselor/guard at a juvinile facility for criminals. damn b@st@rds

Downwards will compress the air better and make the subs sound a bit louder.

Facing the subs downward might induce more rattles throughout the entire frame of the car, unless you've dynamatted it quite well. Facing them towards the front will give you a better sound in the cabin IMO.

As for the 8200 thats definitely a phat head unit... I like going straight to the top when I get things to get the most out of my money but the 9200 wasn't worth it just for the motorized faceplate. The 8200 saves you money cuz you don't need an external crossover, it has a separate output for your subs and its got a built in EQ - then the pretty screensavers to wow all your friends.
