Keeping car original.. Boosting audio

Hi Audio guys..

I have a 31,000 mile all original IROC vert..

Bone stock motor.. Interior practically showroom..

I want to keep it that way.. I like and appreciate people that go crazy with audio, lighting, custom interior, etc, but that's not my goal for this car.

However, I was driving in my 2012 Tahoe with the 10 speaker Bose system and when I drive the IROC after, the stereo is disappointing..

The previous owner has an Alpine detachable head unit that looks about 10 years old with the old style iPod cable in the ash tray. He replaced the stock speakers with Alpines. I have the original speakers and radio in boxes as well. He gave me all that stuff..

The stereo sounds really crisp and clear, but there is no low end whatsoever.

Is there a way to install better rear speakers and a higher powered head unit with Bluetooth?

I don't really want a subwoofer in the trunk and an external amplifier.. I'm not looking for crazy bass, but something needs to be done.. If there's a sub/amp that will be unnoticeable and not make the trunk completely useless I'm open to that..

I haven't installed car audio since the 90s so recommend away!

Want to get an alarm with remote locks too..

I installed one of these subs with built in amp in my Jeep Wrangler a couple of years ago. This should drop in your trunk without creating any space issues, attaches with straps which are included and it puts out plenty of low end sound for not a lot of money. It comes with all the needed wiring and hooks directly to your HU's pre amp connection. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Also check out this Rockford unit. You can lay it down behind the passenger seat, leaving the entire trunk open. I have 2 10" in similar fashion that I can pull out super fast for shows.

Love it.. I'll check that one out too..

In my old 87 with T-Tops I had Pioneer 6x9 3 ways and a Pioneer head unit that was 45w x 4

It had decent bass without a Sub.. You could crank it pretty good and it sounded full.

I guess the smaller speakers in the vert just don't get it done like the 6x9s

this is a set i just ordered from EBAY.. my old stockers keep cutting out when turned up. I'm assuming its a safe guard so they don't blow.

Re: Keeping car original.. Boosting audio

My speakers go really loud and clear but just have no bass.. When you try to turn up the bass they sound like crap..

Maybe something like those Kickers or another really nice speaker with and amp would work..

The verts don't have the 6x9 speakers either and I think the 6x9 sound better..

I don't want earth shattering bass, but something decent without the trunk space disappearing..

Re: Keeping car original.. Boosting audio

i agree.. i don't need the bolt loosening bass some ppl here have. they are beautiful systems but I don't want to be modding the interior with kick panels and stuff like that.. i will be reviewing the kickers after i install them.

I currently have my old Dual head unit in my car right now but I am thinking on upgrading to http://www.ebay.ca/itm/351713134730?...&sojTags=bu=bu

I want to keep a single din application as I will re-install the original AC Delco at car show.
