NEED BOSE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi all i got a complete BOSE system out of an 89 RS today the kick panels,4 by 6's 6 by 9's and the 2 that are in the rear along with the head unit my main question is how do i wire the kick panels and is the head unit a must when installing these pieces?
First of all, I am almost 100% positive that the bose system only included the two in the kickpanel and the two in the back. The bose system didn't have the speakers in the dash, or the 6x9's in the location that the other cars do. The owner of the RS probably added those speakers in themselves.
To anwser your other question, you do not need the bose head unit to run the bose system, but everyone swears it sounds like crap without it. I've got a stock bose system in my '87 IROC, except I have an aftermarket CD player instead of the stock head unit. The quality of the sound sucks, BUT, don't put any weight in my opinion because it it probably due to my UNBELIEVABLY crappy head unit(I won't even mention the manfacturer or I'll never be able to post on this board again). The system hooks up like any normal system would with the acception that the small amps that power each of the four bose speakers must be wired up to a seperate power supply (I think I wired mine up to the ignition) so that when you start the car the amps get power. I don't believe the speakers will work with any aftermarket headunit without the amps getting power from another source.
