Question about Bose Components

I recently bought a 1992 Z28 and the previous owner included a Delco/Bose cd player and a decklid which has two speakers (with subwoofer-like air ports) integrated into it. According to the owner, the cd player was stock and the decklid was from another camaro. Also, the 6x9s are also supposedly Bose. He tried to get the system to work but since he couldn't find Bose 4x6s for in the dash, it wouldn't work. Is this accurate information? I emailed Bose but they seemed to think that these components were from a Corvette. Is there a way to get these decklid speakers to function?

The Bose system in a Camaro would have consisted of a Delco/Bose CD or tape player, the decklid you mentioned with 4" speakers, and two more 4" speakers in the front kick panels.

The Bose system in that car does not use the normal dashboard and sail panel locations whatsoever. It does not have 4x6s or 6x9s.

I don't recall ever seeing a 4x6 Bose speaker, and the 6x9 size was used only in sedans with trunks.

You could probably get the rear decklid speakers to work, but it really isn't worth it if you don't have the front ones to go along with it.

Do the 6x9s have any markings or brand name on them?

Here's what I would do:

First, bench-test the CD player and make sure it works.

Buy some nice aftermarket 4x6 speakers for the dash, or get some kick panel pods...your choice. If you're on a really, really tight budget, some of the fancier GM cars had half-decent 2-way 4x6s in the dash; find them in a junkyard.

As far as the rear 6x9s: You could leave the factory, non-Bose ones in, if they're still there. You could use the Bose 6x9s if you had to, but it's unlikely that they're going to sound very good without the matching Bose amplifier. Or buy some aftermarket 6x9s too.

Buy a nice 4-channel amplifier and use it to power your four speakers.

If you like the looks of the rear deck panel, go ahead and install it, but don't bother hooking it up.

If you or your installer need advice on interfacing the aftermarket amplifier with the Bose radio, let me know.

The bose speakers are individually amplified. They have 4-pin connectors: Hot, ground, input, and feedback. I'm running my bose in parallel with two 6x9's and two 4x6's. If you have any specific questions I'll be glad to help. My original Bose tape deck failed, so I replaced it with an eclipse unit.

To see if the 6x9s are bose take them out you lift up that little cardbard material panel and theres 4 screws. take them out look at the back of the magnet. First if its Gm the speaker is paper thin, and the magnet im pretty sure says gm or ac delco something. Just garbage.
