Huge 12" Sub, is this any good?

I don't know anything about car audio but is this a good deal or a rip off?

I would never buy a speaker without hearing it first. That deal sounds to good for the price.

I have never heard of American Pro as a brand. No front shot of the sub, no idea of cone and surround quality, etc...

I can't vouch for the quality of the sub since that add is very vague but I'd be willing to bet you'd be better off by passing that deal up and looking elsewhere.

Just my $.02

depends on if your willing to risk $69.70. most of the time, you get what you pay for with stereo equipment.

it does look nice, but in my opinion, it looks to nice to be $50.

There's a million subs like that on the market. Big, shiny 50lb basket and magnet, and some even have aluminum cones and rubber surrounds. So, how do they use such great materials at fantastic prices? Easy. No quality control, and absolutely no design costs. They just slap together a good looking sub with no reguard toward reliability or sound quality. When it comes to car audio, the shine sells more than the sound.

I've seen that sub before...it was at that show that rolls through town and sets up at the Expo Center once a year. I can't remember the price, though, and they didn't have it hooked up so you could hear it.

Jim is right on here. They're giving you all the flash, all the fancy materials...but at about one quarter the cost of most subs like that. They're not doing it 'cause they're nice guys...they have to make a living like everyone else.

On the other hand, there is always a small chance that it could be good. At least the Thiele-Small parameters are available, as well as enclosure recommendations.

If you're on a tight budget, look into some of the basic lines of name-brand subs. The JBL Loud and Clear, MTX 4000....those are just examples...but you can get decent performance at a low price with something like that.

Like earlier posted theres tons of that stuff on the market. Youll hear a lot of weird imitation brands. Another thing just because a speaker has a 800 lb magnet and can handle 4,000 watts doesnt mean it sounds good. I would definatly not go for it. Also you must be leary when buy used subs especially of ebay no matter what kind. I wouldnt reccomend it.
