1986 IROC Old School install

Thought some of you would like to see the old school setup in my '86.

The HU is an Alpine 7902 and the EQ an Alpine 3311. It has two Alpine 3516 amplifiers powering the front and rear speakers, and a Soundstream D100 for the dual 4" woofers. The front speakers are semi-modern Infinity 4x6 plates, while the rear speakers are Infinity 4x6 plates and Tang-Band 4" woofers installed in Pontiac UQ7 boxes. I added an AUX input to the HU and installed a Soundstream LP-1 preamp inline to give the AUX input a little boost.

I installed the two Alpine 3516 amps in the center console. The rear amp is partially visible in the picture.

The Soundstream D100 is installed under the rear storage compartment.

I think that looks great,I like the old school Equalizer/Cd player combo.I like having the buttons/***** for better control,I hate having one **** for twenty different settings. The rear speaker set up looks great as well.

I saw the owners manual on the EQ has 3/28/86 on it,is the Cd player from '86 as well?

Does the Cd player have the drawer that slides out for the cd?

That is really nice period correct looking install. I am quite impressed with my single 8" tang band.

Awesome setup! I'm doing a very similar thing with my 88 GTA. I have an Alpine cassette player and Alpine eq- different model from yours. Just need to find an amp and get it done.
Something about that green stack that really takes me back to those days... everyone who was anyone had the green square six pack on their dash.

Re: 1986 IROC Old School install

I think I have exactly the same alpine head unit somewhere.

I'm curious how that sounds, especially with the pontiac rear boxes in there (I have a set of those kicking around somewhere, the PO of the car somewhat butchered them to put a set of 5.25" sony speakers in them)

I really like your set up, any plans for the trunk? I enjoy see the old school beat. Gives me ideas and motivation. Need to finish the 4 Lanzar dc12's, hifonics zues, hifonics Callisto, and zap board for my 84.
