also heres a pic of my system in the trunk of my car.. i still have room for my t tops if i want.. i just have to move the amp out of the bottom. i know it isnt pretty, but no one can see inside the back of my car anyways. it also looks small huh.. its not.. i can rattle windows on the buildings and everything inside em. 600Watts each 10 Inch speaker. my 1,200W amp sends each woofer 600 watts
cant see in

remember mike92 is right back is the way to go....
and also it proves to be cheaper as u only have to build a plate for 2 speakers ( only a wierrd shape board) cos the well that u have in the back is perfect for the bass....
trust me i have such a setup and the bass rocks ....
i got the board done including carpetting for like 80$
u can also attach the amp under the board in the center to prevent it from being stolen

actually mine looks more liek this...
i designed the board in such a way that it sits perfectly in the lower well...
i had another one in the top with the same setup... but when u drive ur car hard it pops out or starts moving ...
this setup gives the same box volume as tm4h's..
its a sealed box ... im not sure if tm4h's is vented

89 camaro, thats a nice setup. no mine are not vented. i tried to put 10's in my car, they just wouldnt fit. the way you have yours is very space conservative, except where do u put your t tops (unless you dont have n-e)
ps: i know it dosent have n-e thing to do w/ this board but i read your sig, how do those mods work on your engine? (a lot faster??) and how much $$. i have the same engine.

well it all tfm4th it all depends on where ur ttops are stored...
i dont have ttops ... if its in the well (i guess u know what i mean )
then u cant have my setup.. well theres one thing ... i can put a bag under the speaker board ...but it reduces bass... the main thing is its where u live my setup is kinda hidden so it keeps thives away but i had ur setup for like a month and it was the same bass i got ... but everyone would look into my car which sometimes is not good...
u have 8"s right ..cos i was wondering cos i had a 2 10" like that and it woldnt fit vertically... and it would block my rear vision...
so if ur ttops are not stored in the wells then go for my setup as it takes less space gives more bass ... cos when u close the trunk it gives u like a horn speaker effect..(i majored in electronics and computers) have done a lot of speaker boxes for the home and some for the car... this is probably the best i have come up with

well about ur engine ques.. i had 110k miles and i was developing lifter noisesso i had to rebuild ... the whole kit costed me like 1000$ and 300$ labour to put it in... its always there u can select options when u do a rebuild .. cos overboring and pistons and valves dont cost differnet just cos the size is diff...
well when i bought the car and it had lifter noise ... the rebuild def. improved everything..
the best mod i would say is the exhaust... it rocks ...
it doesnt exactly sound like a v8 but more like a porsche at high speeds due to high revs
well a gtech after all this shows my horsepower to 170
i know im losing a lot in clutch slip
word of advice its way hard to get 2.8 performace spares.. so if ur doing a engine mod collect everything first..

I'm not trying to dis your setup, so don't take it personally or anything. But it's possible to get better sound from a box than it is from a plate. A plate setup will rarely have the correct airspace for the subs, which doesn't really matter anyways because no matter how tight a plate is, it's far from sealed.

no offense man take it easy....
all i was sayin was that this was a better tradeoff than having a box in ur trunk... its far from sealed urright ... but it is also sturdy when u accelerate u dont have to be scared that something is gonna fall
peace

Nope there not 8's, they are 10's. they just barly fit. when i first put em in i had a lot of trouble...i didnt put em as close to the back seat at first and i tried to close my hatch and i jammed my moter that pulls it down when you shut it. so my hatch wouldnt close all the way or open at all. after much aggervation i brought it to my friends fathers house and he reached in the back and flicked a switch and the moter reversed and opened.
thanks for the advise about the engine
about my stripe. i didnt buy it from auto zone. i had it custom made when i got my car painted. first i designed it on my computer then i just handed it to the guy that was painting my car, then 4 days later there she is. i choose one stripe because i think 2 stripes on a firebird dosent look right to me. i like em on camaros but not birds. i have like 10 diffrent pics of how i wanted my car painted, some w/ two stripes, flames exc..here is a pic of what i handed the guy that painted my car
100% original i made it from scratch in corel draw

Yeah, some people are satisfied with a plate. They do have their advantages, such as being lighter, cheaper, easier, and being able to stash stuff under it. But some people, like me, prefer to go all out and build a box for the superior sound. Just depends what one's goals and priorties are.

right said mike its all about priorities
but the thing is plate is cheaper than a box aree ... cos boxes for our cars have to be custom made and trust me they also weigh a lot .... bad for my car....
wow tfm ur really good in coreldraw
wanna teach me some tips

also the way my subs are sitting i drive my car around corners fast, break fast, take off fast, they dont move at all. they are resting between the seat and my hatch window. and if i remember correctly i think i put velcro under them so they dont slide left and right. however i have found that where i put my amp.. the same place where you put your subs.. i keep finding water marks on it. i cant seem to find a leak though.
how do the camaros handle the bass in relation to rattling noise?
my bird rattled like crazy! but i put stuffed animal stuffing between my lights and whatever else rattled and it seems to have stopped most of it. (if you look close at the rear of my car next to the key hole you can see the stuffing sort of working its way out)

yeah ur right the bass does make it rattle a bit ...
but good thing for me is that the waythe speakers are placed the bass hits the roof in the back and also holds all the plastic since im kinda using the board between all plastic parts
also try to see if all ur plastic bolts are there maybe ur losing some bolts somewhere ....
and in a camaro .. if the motor is stuck tryin to pull something adown all u do is to rotate the key and it opens the shaft but the motor goes down
put a sscrewdriver in there and it opens again

I haven't deadened my car yet (away at college etc.), so it rattles like crazy. The third brake light, door panels, mirror, ceiling (?)...it's really hard to pin it all down...just lots of buzzing and rattling. From outside my car the license plate goes crazy, and I've knocked stuff (cups and such) off my hatch. I've got some deadening spray and a door kit which came with my speakers (Cascade Audio) which I haven't installed yet which may help. Plan to spray the inside of my third brake light, maybe liscense plate, and pad other areas I can find, when I eventually get the time.
