Car Audio Struggles

Disassembled my stereo to re-wire my speakers, did everything according to diagram and made it all perfect... BUTTTT I lost power through my ignition/accessory (coming from the car) into the stereo? I have checked all the fuses and they appear to be fine and the multi meter says all are good, so any suggestions help. My car is an '89 IROC. When I connect the stereos ignition wire to the constant, the stereo comes alive but otherwise, no go.

sounds like the accessory fuse, i'd pull it out and check it with the meter, some fuses blow and its hard to tell from looking at them

Re: Car Audio Struggles

The orange wire IS the accessory circuit.

This fuse-box diagram is from an 88,... but probably very similar to your 89. Check the RADIO fuse. ( Yellow wire on radio plug. )

Re: Car Audio Struggles

Appreciate the tips! Are you positive the orange is the accessory circuit; I have my keys out of the car and am getting 12V through it still...? I will make sure to check the fuses again just in case I missed anything!

Cheers! Ryan

Yup,..... Orange is HOT at all times.

This diagram is from an 84, so it's not EXACTLY the same as yours but you can still see the correct basic info regarding the wiring by the color of the wires.

Re: Car Audio Struggles

Thanks for the help man! The diagrams really were useful. Replaced the fuse and voila! Even the old stock front speakers work now!
Cheers! (here is a photo just because)
