Kenwood vs Alpine vs Clarion....

By the end of the week I am hoping to buy my new daily driver from work...a '95 red Grand Am 2 door with a 3.1. I haven't bought a head unit in awhile, and I don't want to pay Eclipse prices for a daily driver.

So which of these 3 is "best"? I realize this is a very subjective question, but I want to hear ideas on these 3. I love my Eclipse in the Camaro, but I want to stay around $200 for a CD head unit, and around $250 for a changer. Lemme hear some ideas.

Alpine or Clarion are going to give you more quality and less features for the same price as a comparable Kenwood. Of the three, my vote would go to clarion because it's got a **** volume control, and unless you're putting in new speakers and amplification, you'll never hear a difference from one to another. Alpine doesn't give you a **** until you pay $300 or more.

Alpine in my opinion should be considered only if money is not an object. I've never really dealt with Clarion but I have heard they make quality products. Kenwoods are probably the best choice for a budget, but I think their headunits look awful. Sony is only good for TV's and Playstations.

I recommend you take a look at JVC and Pioneer.

Kenwood is lovely. I'm sold on thier products. The prices are wonderful and so are the decks and features. i got a krc-508s, it even has a memo reminder with calendar. the sound is great and it didn't kill my pocket.

I actually have a Sony head unit and cd changer, and have no complaints about either one of them. Sure there are some nice ones on the market, but I find that once you have too many features, it gets confusing to operate it. The Sony's are nice and simple. Seriously, you can't be lookin at your radio for more than a second when your doin 75!
