Anyone got pics?
I aint saying nothing about this, everyone has their own preferences to stereo systems, but this is hitting around 145-150 DB's...
The Punch XLC's peak out at 250 RMS...

Well, I'd put some pics of my system up here, but I'm sure that the one that started the post would start telling me about it being cheap crap.

Hey jim, correct me if im wrong but, are there such things as 225 amp alternators? i was almost sure it only went up to 155.
and JP84Z430HP, i would love to see your system. i have never heard a 12" that cost $400 labeled "cheap crap" more like "damn good"
plus i love the L7 look.

I really hope you don't plan on using a high output alternator such as that for an every day driver that you must do a lot of stop and go in.
What most people fail to mention is that a high output alternator such as these do not produce enough output at idle engine speed to charge your battery (let alone 2 900cca batteries). The only time they get into the range they need is during higher revs. (i.e. above 1500-2k)
Why do you think that you see people reving their engines up during a high SPL test? The higher you rev an aftermarket alternator, the more output you are going to get from it. The more output you get, the more power you get from an UNREGULATED amplifier. A "225" amp alternator which I'm still not convinced is manufacturered for automotive use (your website you quoted only shows up to 190 max) will do you absolutely diddly for regulated amplifiers.

yea i know about that, cept i thought it was like 1200 RPM, but anyways, the alternator that im getting is on a different webpage, im at work right now and i cant remember it exactly, but its a different kind of alernator, it is desiged to run at a certain amp's at all RPM, because it went into the detailed stuff about the alternators arent running at full amps at low RPM, such as idle and such like that...ill post the link to the 225 Amp one im getting later...
Heh, I guess Polecat is a fan of Eldridge
(working for kicker and all)
Please tell me he's bringing the truck to SBN? I've been looking forward to listening to it since he's rebuilt it. Missed finals last year (first time in 4 years I've missed it) and have heard nothing but good things so far over his old setup.

Yup, seen it top to bottom on the Carsound writeup. Listened to it with the old setup and thought it sounded pretty damned good...that's why I can't wait to hear it now. I'm very interested in his new horn setup, although I'm sure most of that is hush hush

I know the L7's pound a little bit harder than their round speakers, but didnt someone release square speakers before? I remember someone talkin about it a long time ago they(probably not Kicker i would imagine), released them and they didnt last because the corners went out on them...these new L7's, do they still have that same problem?
I have a few friends that want to buy some, and I told them i dont know **** about it...

Ryan,
Those 3 L7 15's are in Mark Eldridges 4 Runner. HJe won IASCA and USAC World Champion last year with it. Best SQ vehicle out there at that time. But we are starting a whole new season, so who knows.
We spent many years working on these before we released them, and so far, not much of a problem at all.
The L7's are different over the round ones. The round ones wanted small, sealed enclosures. These, we recommend larger ported boxes, and alot of power.
Later!
