ok, building one myself is out of the question, im not the handy type
, what would be my best bet on getting a sealed box built for 3 10's back there? I would install it myself I just need the box, should I just go to a stereo shop or what? also what prices would I be looking at? thanks.

Every place that I see boxes made for our cars, are either really trash, or really over priced. The real problem is the different demensions. Why don't you want to make it yourself? You could save a lot of money, even if you mess up three times. Practice with some cheap particle board, and get someone who knows what there doing, and you can learn alot.

I think that I payed like $35, and spent about 6 hours on a box for my T/A, when my friend still owned it.
You can't even compare home made $35, to $250 and up.

My materials cost me about $70. $35 for the sheet of MDF, $8 for the 1/2 sheet of particle board, $20 for carpet, and the rest on misc. crap like glue, screws, wear and tear to my tools, etc. In any event, I don't expect everybody to think that they are worth the money. I offer a premium product at a premium price. I stay busy enough as it is. Over the summer I spent more weekends building boxes and installing than I spent doing something else. But if you go to any local car audio shop with a reputation for quality (i.e. not Best Buy) a box like mine will cost more than I charge.

Try to buy your materials from stereo shops that buy in bulk. That way the MDF is alot cheaper. Other things like screws I bought 200 for $3,(double grip dry wall) Glue $2, (and I still have alot left over) carpet was bought from Pep Boys for $8,(perfect color match). All mechanical needs are done myself, so I had some silicone, and normal wear and tear on my tools hapens daily,(I use them every day) so it is expected.
Now a days, I only do complete installs, not just making boxes. So most of my materials are added up in the end.

Hrm, well that is strange I did only click send once, but anyway its around 12ish now I havent received any email, something got messed up with that message i guess, my address is slayer512@yahoo.com
look in any crutchfeild magazine and you will find that MTX has not one but TWO speaker assemblies. one is three ten inch thunder 6000's(black ones) for like 300 bucks then thay have one with three 10 inch thunder 8000's(silver ones) for like 400 bucks. the carpet on the box is the exact same as the dark grey carpeting in carpeting in f- bodys. and best of all it's the only box that was premade, can be at my door in two days And fit in the back trunk well. If you want a great deal on some good speakers jump on the MTX's they are very respectable IMHO

I might be interested in a three 10" box if you make them available. Let me know on prices. I espechially like how low the subs sit if that would be possible to fit three 10s in there. Thanks for the info
To answer your questions.
I only build the boxes for 1 or 2 10" subs because of size and weight factors. Two many people come back saying that the extra 100 lbs. from the big boxes slows them down too much. And two 12"s would have to fire straight up at the hatch where as my box with one or two 10"s fires on an angle off of the back window. Plus the way this box sits it still allows you to use your T-Tops lock down, and use your storage compartment. Besides with the proper subs and amplifier you can still hit 143 db at the local drag race like I did. And YES that shakes the car.
And no 3 10"s will not fit in there that way.
Can't please everyone but sometimes you have to draw the line. Remember, Quality over Quantity.

From what I've seen, Rick's boxes look like great boxes, and you really can't beat his prices. We're all friends here.------------------

Just a thought but back in 97 JL Audio made and sold a box loaded with three 10W6 speakers in it that could handle from 300-900 watts rms. Yall may want to contact them to see if they still offer it. Mind you it wasn't cheap but then the W6 speakers were brand new then too.

Well thanks for everyones help, i've pretty much decided to go with RyjoCustoms I think, mainly beacuse of the price, money is tight at the moment.. I also decided to go with 2 12's in a ported box instead of 3 10's beacuse it would be cheaper since I cant use the ones i have now I would have to purchase 3 new 10's.. and 2 12's is also be eaiser to amp than 3 10's.. If anyone has any opinion on which brand sub I should get let me know.. I'm either leaning towards another set of MTX's but im not sure beacuse i kinda want to try something different, maybe jl audio.. or possibly AudioBahn.. but they have high RMS speakers for cheaper prices so Im not to sure about that.. The Zeb prices are really low and I beleive the 700 RMS 12 is on special for like 90$ and it just sounds too good to be true.. any feedback on audiobahn would be good.. Any other brand recommendations would be helpful. thanks.

Personally, I can't stand Audiobahn. They also make Mobile Authority, and IMHO they're both cheap quality products. Only the shops that carry the cheaper equipment around here carry them. I'd stay away. I went with MTX for my subs, and I don't believe that I could have done better. Great sound, great prices.

I used to have two 12 inch JL audio speakers on an Autotek amp in a cheap box that carried for two blocks. It was an older Auotek competition amp though not the new ones. It was rated at 44 watts X 2 at a 4 ohm load.......but it rocked hard. Before that I had two 12 inch Pioneer IMMP subs on a cheap amp that carried for about a block. Both were a great set of subs.

$250 is cheap for a custum made box. i am just about finished with my box for three 10w6 with an 1600wrms esoteric amp pushing them. it took about six hours to do with the custom amp rack. if we were going to make this for a customer it would of easily been about $500-700 install. i will post pics soon i have them on my digital camara but cant find the software to send them to my computer. email me if you would like to see them.

Ok someone mentioned that 3 tens wouldnt fit, wonder how thats so considering i had 4 tens along my well area, also had 2 there with 2 in bandpass above gas tank area.
Z28racer, isnt that like comparing apples to oranges. You cant say that if you had 4 tens, that 3 tens are guaranteed to fit. It as depends on what sub you are using.
I dont see why 3 tens wouldnt fit, it all depends on the amount of space needed.
