New sub box

Ok. Heres the thing. I just bought a pair of the new Infinity Perfect 12" subs. However, the previous box i had was for 2 10s. NOw, i was wondering is it would be better to cut the holes bigger, or to buy one of those boxes they have on Ebay for like 70 bucks. Also if anyone has a box that they bought from there, please let me know how you like it, and how the subs sound in it. Thanks

If you cut bigger holes the sound wont be good at all. You need the right amount of air space(only if its a sealed box). If its not a sealed box then it probably will work to cut bigger holes.

whats your total airspace per sub if its around .9 - 1.2 you should be o.k. it will aleast work for a standby perfect 12's don't need alot of space in a sealed box

If you cut the holes bigger then stuff the box with poly-fill it should sound good. The poly-fill slows down the sound waves inside the box and makes the sub perform like it was in a bigger box.The rule is about a pound of poly-fill per cubic foot of air space. Go to the crafts section at Walmart they sell sell 1 1/2 pound bags for a couple of bucks, thats where I got mine.

I have those subs.. They are right about the airspace, but if you are not close to the 1.0 ft3 of space they need per sub, DO NOT buy a 70 dollar box.. Save your money and have a shop either custom build your box or build it yourself. I've heard those subs in a prefab box and I've heard them in a box made specifically for the sub and if you judged by the prefab box then you'd be dissappointed that you paid whatever you did for the sub.. Those are EXCELLENT subs, why not give them at least a GOOD box?
