t-tops and bass

someone told me that if i have the t-tops off on my car, the bass wont hit as hard as i want it, and it will sound like S**t. is this true? i'm spening a lot on this system, and i would just like to know before hand.

thanks

hahaha, they are on crack, it might seem like its not hitting as "hard", but it definatlry sounds better because there is more air, i LOVED riding around last year in the summer with the t-tops out...

and outside the car, with the hatch, that ****s gotta be like sounding like a concert hall outside the car...

My car has t-tops and I have a heck of a system. Hits 143db level. It sounds SWEET with the tops off. If your system is set up right the t-tops won't be a problem.

If you're gonna get into the SPL competition scene, then yes you're not gonna hit as high numbers with t-tops. If you just want loud, pounding bass then t-tops aint gonna make a difference. Besides its more fun crusin with the tops off.

I have t-tops. I was wondering how an enclosed box would sound. Would this even work in the well? What size subs do you have? How do you keep the t-tops in the trunk when they are off? Also, how would some 12" kicker comps sound in my car?

is it possible to have ttops in the car (w/ a back seat and lets say the back seat is occupied by a backpack or something so u cant throw the tops in the car) and still have the subs going real load? ive always wondered if i could throw the ttops in the trunk and still listen to good hard thumpin bass but have been too scared to try it

When my T-tops are off & when my windows are rolled down I hit 3db harder than if the windows were up & the T-tops were on.

You can put the T-tops in the back with the subs (assuming you have space) and there will be no problem. Just make sure they are tied down and try not to cover the speakers. With a hard hitting system I would worry more about the hatchback glass.

in my prior system, i had two 12's in the standard f-body well box haveing the t-tops sit right on top of the gas tank where they belong connected with their straps with out any problems. now though, i have two 15's and the take up the well area and the the gas tank area so i just through my tops in the back seat.

I have a convertible and when I put the top down I still have good bass and my 2-12" subs are in the trunk. I can turn it up top down doing 60 and hear the bass and music just fine. I use a to have a IROC with T's had 2 12's on a board in hatchback worked just fine.
