Speaker recommendations for 95 Sunfire Cassette deck
Looking for speaker recommendations for 95 Sunfire Cassette deck, this probably the same head unit that GM put in a number of other models. Does the newer head units have the same speaker specs as the third-gens, 2 4-ohm and 2 10-ohm speakers? Looking to improve the sound a little but I don't want to have to cut up the dash to get a set to fit right.
Here there's some talk about using Cavalier or Sunfire speakers, any opinions on using these?

Re: Speaker recommendations for 95 Sunfire Cassette deck
This recommendation comes from the gentlemen that repaired my head unit,
"I recommend at least an 8ohm speaker for each channel. Some cars use two 4ohm for each front side, that would be okay also. As long as the load equals at least 8ohm per corner. I've seen 10ohm speakers in the rear, those would be okay also. Just don't want 4ohm without having two per side."

That would depend on the trim level. The “enhanced stereo” got component 4x6 drivers and separate tweeters, where the sedans got typical 4x6 coaxial or even worse, dual cone depending on the year. I may be mixing and matching cavalier from hunting 4x6 options in the scrapyard. The j body cars from this era without the “enhanced” stereo were all “4 ohm”. I believe the component speakers “enhanced stereo” were 4 ohm driver with 10 ohm tweeter. I believe the coaxial speaker has the same impedance, my thinking this is done to “protect” the tweeter. The tweeter of course simply wired in parallel to the driver.
see attached pic of a typical coaxial 95-05.
I am running the above speaker in my T/A in the dash location. They’re surprisingly good - for what they are: when powered by an amplifier that I paid 20 times as much for 30 years ago, receiving a signal from a deck with less than 0.04%THD at full volume. Effectively, they sound pretty good when hooked up to potentially the best sounding equipment money can reasonably buy, lol. A little light on the tweeter.
