As long as you sand the paint down to the steel and use a good crimp on ring with a washer with teeth in it (I can't remember what they're called) you should be fine.

I believe they're called locking washers. I'm sure that helped.

Where is your amp at? I have my amp right behind the back seats. The ground runs through the cover where the spare tire is supposed to be and connects to the body in there. Like what was said earlier, make sure you have good contact with bare metal.

In my car i have 2 12's and the amp (alpine mrv-t757) is mounted on the box in between the 2 subs. it is a fully custom box with a shelf so it actually holds 2 amps i have a small one powering my 6x9's and the amp is mounted so low into the box it is hidden. it is pretty sweet. this way i have that space behind the backseat still.

Yeah man, I would run your ground wire to the spare tire well. That is probably about the closest and most accessable place for it. You will have a lot of space to work with without having to worry about destroying your carpet or other parts of the car, so that it could easily be returned to stock. That should be within very close distance to your amp and should work just fine. Let me know if you have any other questions.
