Is it possible to install a stock ford CD deck?

I took the stock camaro deck out and found that the plugs are different from the ford deck,
just wondering if its possible somehow to hook it up.
Also, I unplugged all the wires from the camaro deck and then plugged them all back in,
and now I can barely hear sound, why is this?

I dunno if anyones still readin this post or not, so i'll just say yes it can be done. Don't call me a crackhead cause of it, but i've put a GM in dash in a dodge before and it worked perfect. It was a stupid thing to do, but theres an explanation, i just doubt anyone really wants to know why the Hell i did it. (wasn't my car just for the record)

You can put ANY deck in ANY car, given enough imagination and room. Just remember that Ford likes to use a common ground for all the speakers. Use a wiring harness, and perhaps an electrical diagram from the donor car.

Yes it can be done, as I have done this before. You will need the harness that plugs into the donor radio, a wiring diagram from the Ford, as well as a wiring kit for your car. The wiring kit will just make it easier on you. Find the correct color wire from the back of the donor harness on the radio, and wire it to the corresponding wire on the harness(which will be labeled). The great thing about having the harness is that you can wire it up in your house, and then just plug it in when you get out to your car. Be careful when choosing your Ford radio though. Some of them from Lincolns and upper end fords are pre-amp decks only. Make sure that your radio has built in power, or you won't get squat for sound.

Yeah, I would recommend getting a used Jensen CD player to a Ford unit, just because the Ford radios do not have decent Bass reproduction.

I've done something similar...I wanted to have a stock look to the car(lighting and fit) and still have a decent set of speakers. 4x6 polk plates up front, and kenwood 6x9 rears(the rest is yet to come)....but if you look at my SIG, you'll see, i got a 99 Grand Am GT's indash cd player with equilizer out and with a couple adapters, some light mods to the bracket, made it fit like it came that way in 1986...as soon as i get pics of it, i will post...but it will take a while. It looks great, and the lighting(reddish amber) matches to the rest of the dash. My friend sold it to me out of his 99 Grand Am for 200 bucks...go to the dealer, and they will charge you 900...i know, becusae i called.

Phantom, I couldn't agree with you more. I have a Kenwood eXcelon in my car now...but not for long. The factory radios may have a few less features and a little less power, but other than that they are just plain better.

I won't put this aftermarket junk in my car ever again. And I install this aftermarket junk for a living.

actually ford's stock units are fairly decent compared to ac delco's,yes you can do anything you want, use a multimeter and/or start a fire and blow fuses....eventually you will figure out what every last one of those wires is for.
