NEW Hawks reproduction power antenna bezels!

Just wanted to throw this out there that Hawks came through and reproduced the complete power antenna bezel parts. These were not exactly easy to come by when I needed them and used were not cheap.

Hawks has them listed at just under $17 which is a bargain compared to sourcing used parts.

Re: NEW Hawks reproduction power antenna bezels!

I know that this thread is over two years old but I just recently got interested in the idea of replacing the standard antenna in my 1987 IROC. Right now, my car is undergoing an LS7/Tremec T56 Magnum F swap and the car is torn apart. This is the perfect time for me to get this Hawks antenna bezel and aquire a motorized antenna.

Here is the current link to Hawks' power antenna bezel:

Thanks for the info - let us know what antenna you end up going with and how it fits! I have heard replacements can be a pain - curious as I may need to do this as well

I'd like to find an OEM power antenna and have it rebuilt by Barney (TXbarney.) This isn't a priority for me right now so I've got some time before everything gets put back together.

If you can't find one you can always go with the Crown 56003151, it's nearly identical to the OEM and all that needs to done is 180 the mast and splice the 3 wires to the existing wires (same colors) and connect the antenna. Also, the $5 finial needs to be swapped if you want to complete the true OE look. They are priced reasonable at around $100 but I would test before install in the fender as I had one not work out of the box.

Yes. The aftermarket Crown units are readily available and reasonably priced and if need be, I'll buy one before my car goes back together. A power antenna works better for me in that I like to cover my cars in or out of the garage. A powered antenna makes using a cover less of a pain.

What is the item that you mentioned that I have highlighted in red up above in the quote?

Re: NEW Hawks reproduction power antenna bezels!

It's the decorative tip that screws onto the top of the antenna.

Some of the Crown's we have got lately had several different finials in a package in the box and it had the correct one for a 3rd gen installed on it already.

We got like 5 the last batch and some were DOA.

My friends 87 IROC-Z needs the power antenna fixed. We decided not to go with the Crown replacement power antenna. I got my friend to order a replacement cable for an 87 power antenna. It has a coated steel cable.

We ain't took it out and rebuilt it yet. It's on the To Do list.

Airwolfe, thank you for the explanation of what a finial is. So the new Crown units come with a number of different finials, right?

Mine came with one that was not like the OEM F-body, it was less than $5 IIRC to get a correct AC Delco.

Re: NEW Hawks reproduction power antenna bezels!

I think I have a brand new Crown power antenna downstairs in my spare bedroom. I've never opened it. I'll go round it up if it's not buried too deep in the room. It's a mess in there. I got car stuff stacked waist high and can't even walk through the room. Literally there is just enough room for me to swing the door open and closed. But I think I saw it in there the other day close and handy.

We have done Buick GN and C4 Vette power antennas along with about 12 or so 3rd gen power antennas getting them from different suppliers. Some Crown, some GM rebuild kits, some rebuild kits from Rick's Camaros, some from Antenna Source. So some of this might have ran together in my head.

OK. Realistically I'm not finding nothing in there tonight.

It very well my be at my shop or even in my truck. I was cleaning my shop the other weekend and found lots of stuff I didn't even know I had and some of it I loaded into my truck to bring home to sort through. I might have remembered seeing the Crown power antenna then.
