Phantom face plates

JIM85IROC and others that flush mounted their decks, then put a phantom stock face plate on.

1) how do all of the ***** and buttons stay on?
2) how long did you take to make the plate?

Thanks,
Jesse

I got one in my shed. I just tore it all apart and superglued the buttons on. It was an older one I had laying around and after seeing Jim's I thought what the heck. It was only an AM/FM. I've never stuck it in my car tho. Looks very realistic in my hand looking at it.

so you had to superglue all of the buttons on. I was hoping that the would just stay on by themselves.

Thanks,
Jesse

Yeah that's what I did because there was nothing behind the face at all. Just the front plastic cover.

jobryan26, how did you pull off the face plate. did you have to take out all of the buttons befor you pulled the face, or did they all come off after the face, or what?

Basically what I am looking for is some sort of step-by-step procedure.

Thanks,
Jesse

I pulled all of the buttons first except the presets and then just started taking everything apart. I wasn't trying to save the old unit for anything so I thought I'd take a look inside also so I just started taking it all apart. If I can get my lazy butt up I'll take a pic for ya.

Thanks jobryan26,

I have an old unit at home that doesn't work and I don't need also. I just needed to know which buttons had to be pulled before the face comes off.

Thanks,
Jesse

Here's the pics. I finally dug it out of my junk. I haven't put the Bass & Treble buttons on it yet. I never actually planned on using it I just really wanted to see what would be involed in doing it.

Hope this helps. John
