Updating my Speakers
Updating my Speakers
After forty years my stock speakers are done. I want to upgrade and just wondering what everyone is using in their cars. I still have the stock stereo with the adjustable equalizer. I want to change out the back with 6x9 what brand do you guys recommend for the front and back speakers with the stock stereo.

Re: Updating my Speakers
There are some good threads out there on this already that would be worth checking out.
Just want to be careful so you don't damage the factory head unit. I think stock was 10 ohm in front and 4 ohm in back.

Re: Updating my Speakers
U can u 8 ohm speakers instead of 10 ohm with no problem.
U are going to have to google to find replacement speakers. 8 ohm may be hard to find. Good luck.

No 3-way ~!!!!
You want the rear speakers to produce BASS. The factory rear speaker is a duel cone coaxial 6x9 Woofer - so that's what you want to use as a replacement.
As long as the 2 front speakers are stock (10-OHM) you can use almost any aftermarket speaker in back. Most aftermarket speakers are 4OHM. Just as long as it's a 4-OHM or higher rating,... it will work just fine and not harm the factory Delco. ( Do NOT connect 4 4-OHM speakers to a factory radio !!! )
