Looking to buy a CD out of a 97 Grand Am to put into my 89 GTA. Will I be able to use my steering wheel controls? How can I tell if the radio supports this feature? I am screwed when it comes to finding factory plug ins, some sob cut the wires. Does anyone know which wires run to the steering wheels? I found the wiring diagrams on this board, but there was no reference to steering wheel control wires. When I pulled some more of the dash down, I found another fuse panel on the right side of the steering wheel. It has two fuses, one labeled "vats" and the other "arc Radio" What are these for? There are also some other plug ins, any suggestions.. Thanks

 

Ooh, good question, now when you say someone cut the wires, what wires are you referring to? The harness that would normally plug into the radio? IF that is still intact, you can buy a harness that will plug into there that will tell you what wire goes where. You will then need to buy the harness for Grand Am radio. There should be a plug that has provisions for steering wheel controls on the back of the stereo. You should be able to purchase that harness from Metra at this link.
