Non 3rd gen but F-body????

Does anyone know if you can put in your own deck in a 2000 Monsoon Equipped Camero....I've got the Pioneer DEHP-47DH CD deck and want to put it into the 4th Gen Camero when I get it I just want to know if it's compatible......And also what size speakers (Stock) are in the new Monsoon system???? Maybe I could just change the Factory Speaks and leave the deck or change all if I could.....

You can add any deck to the monsoon, but may need an adapter to interface it with the factory amp. Stock monsoon speakers are 6.5" front, mid bass woofers (I refuse to call them subs), and 4" speakers in the very back.

The amp and speakers are the biggest weak link. Puting good speakers with the factory amp is useless because the amp distorts so much, it makes good speakers sound bad (I tried, I've never heard my $400 Studio Driver components sound so bad, ugh!).

My adive, rip it all out and install your own stuff.

I agree, I did a full install on a 4th gen Camaro, and the only stock piece I left in the car was the factory powered sub- I unplugged it. Now that car had the special 3-speaker "Bose" system, and it sounded especially bad... maybe the Monsoon system is different.

Well, if you have all the components, it could work. Put the 6 1/2"'s in custom kickpanels (Hmm, I wonder who makes custom kickpanels that fit 6 1/2"s ). Put the so called sub woofers in the 6x9 spots, and ditch the 4" back speakers , custom fab soometing to hold those in th every back plastic pieces.

Now, I do not recommend doing this unless, A: You have a stock system and are looking for a small upgrade. and B: You can get an entire monsoon system for less than $300.

Even entry level aftermarket equipment puts the monsoon system to shame.

well, I got the CD player, and the kickpanel speakers, plus tweeters all for nothing, so it was pretty cheap, heh
