Too Much Time Leads to a Decent Idea...
At least I think so, would just like to get some opinions of it, and how effective it would be. Since I just got pummelled with a snowstorm over here (I had been waxing my car no more then a week previous), I started thinking about the mods and such to happen to my car later, and one of them was security. Since I'll end up putting a substantial amount of time and money into the vehicles' audio system (I don't plan on spending a fortune, it just happens that way sometimes...:lala: ), I was going over the different security devices I may need. Now, the face is detatchable, but for the headunit I was also thinking of taking my old stock tape deck, big buttons and all, and mounting it overtop of my deck. Now, the original plan was to have it mounted perhaps with hinges, or snap into place, so the face is still accessible. However, I hope to make the cd player fully functional underneath the stock faceplate - create a cd slot in line with the deck, allowing for correct inserting/ejecting. But you can't access the buttons ON the deck..? The remote, with access to most/all the important radio functions, mounted on the armrest, easily taken with me by detatching it off of the velco that holds it.
*whew*, lotta typing. Basically, it boils down to either a)fully functional underneath the faceplate or b)A faceplate that snaps overtop the deck whenever I leave the car to go someplace.
Ideas, comments, etc., all appreciated as usual.
