Best place to mount changer?

I have an Alpine 6 disk changer mounted in the trunk of my Camaro. I cant take it when it skips, It drives me crazy. I was wondering where you guys have em mounted. Any sugestions would be great. I wanted to mount it in the dash somewhere but I really dont feel like doing a butcher job on it. Thanks

I've got an audiovox ten disc changer mounted next to the spare tire cover in the trunk. I haven't had any trouble with it skipping. I'd check with a place that does installations and see if they have any recommendations.
