Wouldn't something like that take up an awful lot of leg room. I know it would for me but I am 6'4". I think I would prefer the kick panel style. Just me $.02

Damn I wish i took pics of my 3rd gen!

I had some kick butt custom door panels, but I never took any pics of my stereo setup. To date, I consider those door panels my best custom install work ever. If you did not know what a 91 Firebird's door panel looked like, you'd think these were stock.

Anyway, I agree that the door pods in question look "tacked on" and are too bulky.

Hey DJ, how are those kick panels from the big sale coming? Just wondering when I should be getting them. Oh and your website still says the total upfront payment is $150. Sorry for the change of subject, I just didn't want to start a new thread and my email stopped working a couple weeks ago.

the only thing i can see as far as leg room, being a problem, might be a factor, and the kick pod ones might be better, however not if u have a clutch pedal, in which case i think the door pods would be a better choice, i am going to be constructing a custom set of door panels with pods built in, as well as a pair of cup holders....

mike,
the kicks are taking longer than i planned, and I actually intend to take my website down for awhile, I'm gonna need a break after this batch is done.

The first couple sets are shipping today. Yours should ship mid to late next week.

They do look bulky but I'm getting the impression that if you want a 6.5 midbass in the door and have power windows there isn't much choice than to get a little bulky. Door pods are my next project. I'm scared to look behind the door panel to see how far I have to come out. I hope it won't be that bad.

Mine was pretty easy. I made it myselft. I kept the original panel, and added a box. It fits a 6.5" and a tweeter. I had to thick pieces of wood (can't remember what kind), cut it in a trapezoid shape, drilled holes in it, painted it, then cut a hold in the door panel, and drilled holes in that also. All in all, it turned out great, check the link...

I didn't really make door pods, but I rebuilt the entire door panel, with the bottom out enough for a 6 1/2" to fit and clear the wiindow motor. It's not something I can make without the car like the kickpanels.
If you were local, I'd consider it, because I would really need the car to do it right.
