you had an extra alternator as in 2 running at the same time?

i dont know what the answer to your question is, but ive always wondered how hard it would be to run 2 alternators...

Well you would HAVE to run 2 batt's. Thats would be easiest anyway. Run each alt to a different batt. But for all that I would just put out the 289 and get a 140 amp alt.

My alternator went bad so i put a new one on.... But you can rebuild them.... and I was wondering if anybody offered a rebuild kit for them that made them around 140 amps or something....... they have a lot of these kits for stangs that ive seen.

You could run two alternators with just one battery. You don't need a seperate battery for each one. Just make sure you wire it in parallel and not series, because in series you would be boosting the total voltage drop to about 28 volts, possibly causing damage. The hardest part would be mechanically attaching and running it. Would probably be easiest if you took something else, like the compressor, off and put it in it's place. I've heard of it being done though on various cars.

Listen I really could car less about using two alternators LOL that is EXTREMELY GAY unless you have like 4 1200 watt amps... Just use two or even three batteries, all connected to keep them juiced up. And there is a thing called a Capacitator.

DOES anyone know where to find a rebuild kit for an alternator?????????

J.C.Whitney has a conversion kit to make boost the output to 140 amp. Here it is:

Buy the stock B4C alt bracket. It will allow you to run the Caprice 140 amp alt, and i'll look stock.

The JC Whitney part no. for it is 81RJ5781B. Go to their home page(jcwhitney.com) and enter this number in the top lefthand corner and it should tell you about it.

I didn't check out those links nor did I search any catalogs for kits so I'm not going to be much help you but I know of a shop near me that rebuilds them to performance standards and would rebuild it to output 140 amps for $225. Just for reference purposes.
