I've owned 4 third gen camaros...The last two I've owned some not so bright people have installed amps on the rear dash B/H the rear seat. mounting these W/ screws puts holes right into the fuel tank, being that it sits 1/8" below that surface. Hopefully someone reads this B4 doing this. It creates a gas smell inside , and is a pain to fix, since the tank has to come out. Hate to see this happen, hopefully this helps somebody !!!

 

well I have heard many a person doing it and I simply laughed my a$$ off at them. I have mine mounted between my to boxes up on a rack about 2 5/8 inches off that shelf...

 

Very nice to see someone smart enough to do it right.

Just a warning to you guys if you upgrade to a 4th gen, not only is the gas tank just as close, but it's plastic. So even in you use a real short screw, if the gas tank happens to hit it while driving, there's a chance of puncturing it. On both 4th and 3rd gen's, the best way to mount stuff there is to liquid nail a 3/4" board to the metal, and lay the carpet over it, and mount your stuff there.

damn, DJSexay beat me too it! It sux that the best place to mount our amps is on the gas tank. But i agree with DJ... piece of wood under the carpet and then you can drill your *** off..
