Q's about Jensen

Hey I was at walmart today and saw a nice Jensen CD 615 X . It is a 1.5 DIN head unit and it looked really cool. It had detach. face and multi color display. 40X4 Power and 1 set of RCA Pre-outputs. I don't know a lot about stereos but I want something that sounds good. Now I have a POS head unit in there but I also have a Kenwood DEH 36 or something like that it sounded great in my s-20 with my MTX 8's. But my question is "is this a good deck?" I would want to run some type of amp off of it but for now I just want good sound. If I go with the Kenwood I have to order the white peice that plugs into the back of the deck for like 30 bucks and I don't really want to do that. The Jensen is about 170. Any help is greatly appreciated.

In my opinion Jensen isn't exactly the greatest. If you like the 1.5 DIN units take a look at Pioneer. They make 2 I believe. At www.mmxpress.com one is about $210 and the other $240. I'm sure you can find them at a local retailer though if you want to check them out. I think the $40 difference to get the Pioneer would be worth it.

I wish I could get those but on my budget that is way out. Right now I am going to keep the deck I got. But for the price and the options I think the Jensen is the way I may go. What do you think about my other deck? Should I keep it or what???

Jensen is complete crap, if you dont have the money for a decent head unit, dont bother, save your money, because if you dont youl just be buying a new/better head unit down the road...

Kias are cheaper than BMWs for a reason. I'll just say that this is a very similar situation.

You might be able to pick up a nicer deck if you looked for a used DIN size. I got ahold of a sweet Clarion still in the box for $230.

Dude, if yer set on getting a deck now, with the money you have... email me. I have a Pioneer Premier from 1995 that works perfectly still. Its in my car right now, ill sell it to you cheaper than that Jensen new, and i PROMISE, youll like it better and ill sleep better.

Youd get as far ahead taking the 170 and pushing it down the garbage disposal, lol.

Its a DIN sized cd player, 2 pre outs, detach face, yadda yadda yadda.... email me if yer interested....

That sounds like a good deal admrlam is putting up. I'd spring for it if I were you. Pioneer is alot better then Jensen. And Premier is in a whole different league above Pioneer. I have one of last year's Premier subs right know, and let me tell you it is quite a step up from the regular Pioneers. People are amazed at the output I get with 200 watts going into 'just a Pioneer'. For less than $170 if its in good condition I'd go for it.

No prob. admrlam I will but I don't have a lot of money to spend getting ready to drop 100 to fix a broken tranny mount. If I get a new player I will go with a 1.5 din most definately but thanks for the offer. What do you guys think I should do with my 8's? I was thinking of setting them right on the flat part of the trunk they fit perfectly and are hidden by my trunk cover.(it is a fabric one but looks kinda cool maybe even factory, but I doubt it.) Any suggestions are greatly appreciated except for throwing them out I really like them.
