Amp help dumb/smart question help asap would be apreciated.
Ok im going to break down a get a box with a 10 "knock on wood no one rips my system out again"
Ok: Im cheap and not going to buy a 4 channel amp. I have a good 2 channel and am going to run sub on channel 1 and the 6x9s on ch2. Since the deck has built in sub control and clean RCA outputs specificly for sub I see no reason why I cant do this. Ok so 2 RCA Y connectors that go from 2 lines into 1 line one for the sub other for the 6x9's so a total of 4 lines connecting into 2. Is there a problem with this setup?
Again thanks

Never unequally drive an amp. You'll be asking for problems. Based on the design of the amp, channel 1 and 2 may not be 100% independant of each other. Plus mono from the 6x9s will sound terrible. If you want to be cheap, just pic up a Jensen amp.

The biggest downside to this setup, even bigger than the issue of the 6x9s being in mono.....is that you can only turn the amp's crossover on or off. Either your 6x9s will only play bass and no highs...or you sub will be trying to play everything, which sounds terrible.
Of course, you could buy two separate outboard crossovers, but you could just buy another amp for that kind of money.
Modern aftermarket head units have pretty good power these days anyway. Run the four speakers off the deck, and bridge the amp to one channel for the sub.

my suggestion is dont try to do everything at once. Because youll come out better in the end. run the speakers off the head unit but plan on buying a 2 channel or 4 chanel amp for them later why? because any kind of quality 6x9s rms is 50-60 your head unit puts out 18rms which means your underpowering them and they could sound alot better, while alot of head units claim things like 45x4 thats peak and not rms what it will be at regularly. so an amp is the bestway to power your speakers. and the sup should not be powered by the same amp as your speakers, unless your spending alot of money on a quality 4 chanel amp w/ cross over, andyour not. Thats my 2 cents

Ok thanks guys. The issue of driving the speakers unequaly is what I was worried about . One more question for the masses I have my amp located on passenger side under the dash where the computer use to be "tight fit" but air can still circulate.
Does anyone see a problem with it being there to run the 6x9's? Im going to run down the the audio shop on my lunch break or when I can sneak of of work
and depending on what type of enclosure I find I might just get another amp and mount it to the box in the back. The question here is if I get a fairly large box that fits in the cargo area would it be alright to cover it with the carpet thats in the car?
Thanks again for all the replies!

I did go looking around town today and these shops are rip offs! 160$ for 1 ten in the same box they sell at wallmar for 30$ that means 130$ for a stupid sub. A decent 10 shouldent cost more than 80$ for just one right?
I doubt I will do this but I can get a jensen box for 80$ http://www.jensen.com/mobile/non/sub...s/xs1110bp.htm
I dont even think it will fit but its at least got to be a good as a cheap MTX 3000 10 in a cheap box right?
dimentions are 12 1/2 x 15 x 17
Let me know here fellas
