2 amps, 2 remotes needed from head unit? HELP!
I have an Alpine Cd Player and it has 2 outs for RCA's. Front and Back. My question is: if im running the rear RCA's to my subs with one amp, than i run the front RCA's to my highs, do i need 2 remote wires? I have a remote coming from the back of the cd player to my sub amp, and now im going to install an amp for my highs, do i need a remote for that too? Thanks....
you need remote wires for all amps that you run, the only thing a remote wire does as far as i know is it tells the amp to power off when the head unit is not on...i know you can splice the wire no problem and run that to multiple amps, but yes, remote wire for every amp installed...
You can easilly run two amps off of one remote wire by either jumping from one amps remote terminal to the other, or splicing a second lead off of the main and run that right to the amp. Either way would work fine.
You would only need to be concerned if you were trying to remote turn on more than 3 amps and/or several processors. Then you would be looking at wiring in a relay that would provide 12v directly from the battery with the remote lead only switching the relay on and off.
