i imagine that is just the detachable face of the cd player. th eguy probably still has the rest of his head unit in the normal spot. and has a wire running between the two

Relocating the face is a piece of cake if you're handy with a solder iron. Making it look professional takes, well, a professional. You need to be good with fiberglass and shaping to make the final result look good.

Oh, just to let you know, that wasn't his head unit up there. It was an equalizer that uses a remote face, so he had no custom wiring at all to do. The fiberglassing was the only custom work he did. We put the face of a similar Clarion EQ into the sunglass pouch of a grand am a few years back. Came out real nice.
