Kicker panels, easy to kick?

Car: 1986 Iroc Camaro
Engine: 305 TPI
Transmission: Th700R4 Jr. Raptor
Kicker panels, easy to kick?
Im 6'0, and my left leg/foot wanders close to the side of the car.
I was wondering if i installed some kick panels, oh say, 5 1/4" if there would be any room for my leg!
Are they mostly mounted up on the side? or are they too far on the floor? I would hate to spend X amount on a setup, and then not pay attention one day when im driving and somehow kick the speaker, or somehow nudge it enough to break it.
