My System, No subs, But Clean Sound
Hello, this is my first post to the board. I thought I would share my system with you. My car is a 92 RS with the heritage package.
Rear:
Audiobahn Pro 6.5 Components
Front:
DJ's Carpet fiberglass kicks, I was the first to get the carpet, if you look on his web page you will see a set of red kicks for the example, lol
Infinity 605CS 6.5 Components
Head unit:
Pioneer base model but still sounds clean and performs well.
Amp
Pioneer premier, 50X4RMS, Peak is enough to make you want to step out of the car, but still no distortion.
Sound deading throughout the whole car, 100 square feet, 12 feet of 6 inch thick insulation throughout the car, the kicks have been reinforced with a fiberglass resin and sound deading in them, all new 16 gauge wire to the tweeters and woofers, 12 guage going to the amp to X-overs, 4 gauge power wire
I was leaning for a very clean crisp sound but still have a little bass, and well I hit that dead on. Friends always ask me what kind off subwoofers I have and I say, 6.5 audiobahns!

Very professional install. I do have one question though, why are you running two differant brands of components? Usually speakers have differant signitures (the unique sound they leave you with). Both are very good sets but why not just run all Audiobahn or all Infinity?
The way you recessed the headunit is awesome, could you share how you did that?

I picked the infinity for my front stage because of the sparkle and definition that they have. They are a little more cleaner then the Audiobahns and I wanted them up front for the imaging. The Audiobahn has a little more separation between the highs and low, but because of the enclose they are in, the bass response is better. So the end response is fade it to the rear just a little and it will be fill the car with sound.
The head unit is almost flush, it sits back but it is still noticeable that it is not stock. When I get around to it I want to flush mount it. First I had to remove the little stock metal bracket then take the brackets off of the radio(the 4 screw holes). Then take a normal universal plastic kit and use the metal brackets and not the ones supplied with the kit. The after effect is the metal brackets are not as long, so when you use the short factory ones, it does not stick a mile and a half out. Also the Pioneer's face plate is no that thick which adds to the effect.
Matt, I have been looking at different cat-backs and the MAC system came up. In your signature it says you have decided to go with the MAC performance exhaust. What made you chose that system over some of the brand names(Hooker, Flowmaster)?

Sounds good. https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...threadid=86134 if you go there I posted what I like about the Mac system. If you have anymore question go ahead and post them there.
