I need some help with my stock stero
OK I am driving a 89 GTA and its the stock system. The amount of power going to the speakers changes back and forth when I hit a bump or something. I was told there is a build in amp some where and that might be responsible. My steering wheel controls also come and go on me. Any one got any idea what this could be? I checked behind the head unit and there are no loose wiring there.
One more thing is there any CD players I could buy that would still let my steering wheel controls work?
thanks

Hi,
All I can think of is a short in the steering wheel or bad connection internally in the cd player. No there wouldnt be any other cd players that have that function with the cd player and steering wheel. If you really want it to work you can take the cd player apart and clean it off with electronics cleaner.

I bought a pioneer CD changer with FM modulator, so I can keep the Delco head unit. There is a small remote that you use to control the CD changer, and you CAN get steering wheel adapters so you can change the head unit. I think stinger and tune town supply them.

Thanks for the help, The would be real nice to be able to get the steering controls to work but I don;t know if I like them enough to pay $80.

PAC makes the adapter you need....www.go2pac.com. It retails for $60, but if you know anyone who works for Best Buy, the employee cost is $30. Remember, you NEED to buy an aftermarket deck that comes with a hand-held remote.
I'm not too familiar with the GTA system, but I'm pretty sure the amplifier is only for the subwoofers mounted in the rear sail panels. (You control them with the gain slider on the dash.) The other four regular speakers just run off the radio.
