it just wont work. i got the option turned on and when i turn on my lights, the deck just wont dim. it used to work before, but nothing now, any ideas?

 

What color wire do you have it hooked up to? There's DIMMER, and then there's ILLUMINATION.... you actually want illumination, since THAT is what goes to +12v when the parking lights are on. I believe the dimmer varies in voltage, and NOT around the voltage needed to trigger the stereo's 'dimmer' function. It would also help to know what radio you're hooking up

my deck is the pioneer premier 520, last years model. i think i got two options of wires, i'll check later today.

 

Probably wrong wiring. The stock radio wiring lets you do this. Using a harness adapter really helps.

I think on Pioneer units you can only manually DISABLE the dimming option.

Oh, I know what it is.

On Pioneer and Premier decks, you have to switch the dimming feature on before it will work. Here's the procedure.

Turn your key to Accessory or Run.

With the Source button, turn the radio off. (Like I said, though, you have to leave the key on.)

Press and hold down the Function key.

When a menu pops up, you use the left and right arrows to go from one feature to another.

When the display says DIMMER OFF, press the up or down arrow to change it to DIMMER ON.

Also, the clock settings are in this menu.

 

i know, the option is turned on. it worked before, but now it stoped, i'll play with it when it gets darker tonight
