Stupid tip for installs w/ hatch pull-down

Here's my somewhat obvious tip for the day: When installing amps/subs in your hatch equipped with the pull-down, open your hatch and allow the latch to move to its unlocked position BEFORE you disconnect the battery.

I opened my hatch AFTER battery disconnection, and when I came out from lunch, my battery was dead(from the hatch light staying on), hatch was unknowingly open, and latch was in the down position. I had to slam the hatch to contact the switch allowing the latch to come up. Ugh.
Later.

Besides tightening up any loose bolts, or replacing it, I couldn't tell you. Maybe post in the electronics forum for a good answer.

I hate that power hatch thing sometimes. My electrical system crapped out last week, and i opened the hatch to get my Ttops out and put them back out on the car while it sat there for a while. Go to shut the hatch.... umm... D'oh! With my brand new strongarm lift struts it won't even just sit down, i hat to use my Ttop bag strapts to tie the damn thing down and keep it shut until i got back...

Where did you get these? My struts are crapping out and I'm hesitant to by stock replacements. The previous owner (a Pontiac sales guy) said he replaced them three times since 89', and they all wear out. With the cargo cover connected, my hatch won't stay up at all.

Ditto. I've replaced mine twice in less than 5 years. The last time I bought ones for cars with both the rear spoiler and rear wiper, even though I don't have the wiper.

I don't think the ones I have now have gone bad, but they just vary alot with temperature. In real warm weather, I can pop the trunk with the remote, and it completely opens like KITT. In cool weather, like 50's and below, it won't open at all. Motor raises it up, and then pulls it right back down.

So what about these Strongarms?

My shocks have been working great for 4 yrs. now.
The only bad thing about them is when you have had a few too many, and not really paying attention, you go to unlock the hatch at night, (looking for the key hole really close) and click, your a** hole brother hits the release. Kinda hurts.

Kragen sells some lifetime struts, they're in an orange package. I think both were less than $100. 3 years and counting on these struts.
