Stock Stereo Light Bulbs

Is it possible to replace the light bulbs, the ones that light the face plate at night, in a stock AM/FM Cass unit. What light bulbs do I need,?

Not sure exactly what you mean, but the only lights on the stock radio are the LED's built into the unit.

External lighting acutally comes from the rear-view mirror (at least if you have the reading-light option). There are two small holes on the bottom of the mirror that illuminate when you light the dashboard.

If this is what you meant, then I'm pretty sure you can replace the bulbs.

No. I mean the lights internal to the unit. The face plate is relatively easy to remove and there are small bulbs, one works and two of them don't. Those are the ones I want to replace.

Art,

I'm pretty sure the light bulbs just pull or twist out of their sockets.

If you have really good vision, you might be able to spot a part number on the bulb. Or maybe someone at a GM dealership could help you to find a replacement.

My advice would be to just go to a junkyard and pull a handful of bulbs out of a few factory radios...they're free and you don't have to chase down part numbers.

Owner's manual usually has it, or a Haynes manual has those p/n's.
