I have personally never gotten anything stolen out of my camaro, but if your putting a system in your car the FIRST thing I would do is blackout that hatchback glass. You don't to advertise your system to every one or it will get stolen.

I agree.I've had a big system in my Camaro since it was new (92) and have never had it broken into.I've even left it in some areas (San Francisco at 3-4AM)where I almost expected something to happen, but with a dark tinted rear window and no loud volume when I'm looking for a parking place, I've never had a problem.I have 3 Amps,an active crossover, six speakers and 4 Gauge/Gold terminal wiring.

Be careful when driving around your neighborhood (people will see you have something worth stealing, and they'll remember your car. If they ever see it parked anywhere...)

I also agree, but only to a point about tinting the hatch window. It makes it harder to see through, but with a flashlight, everything in the hatch becomes visible. Unless you paint the window black (and why would you do that?) you're gonna be able to see into the hatch. You can look into getting the vinyl hatch cover which goes inside the car and works great. Or just make some sort of carpeted cover for your amp rack/sub box so you can't see the equipment. Just shooting ideas out...

i've had 2 systems stolen with in a 16 month period. i have all my windows tinted the darkest you can get them. the last time happened last month right in front of my house when my alarm crapped out a few days prior to it happening. the first time it happend at work. broke my side window and opend the hatch with the button. second time they tried to pry off my t-tops, maybe did get into the door that way, realized that the button didn't work and couln'd get that big *** box holding those 2 15's over the back seat, so that punched my hatch lock in and got in that way. then two days later at work, a different job, i come out to find my doors not shut all the way, gauge lights lit up and my colum busted and console gone through. just bad luck i guess.

Last summer I had a alpine cd player and a phoenix gold amp stolen out of one of my firebirds. Although it pissed me off I felt dumb because of not having an alarm or window tint. Now I have alarms on all our cars and when my system finally all goes in the back window will be tinted before hand. That was the same summer I had a brand new honda cbr600 stolen. All of this happend in Montana!

Ive had sevral "4" head units stolen in two years, "two of them dident even have faceplates on them " but they took them. I had I entire system stolen once, 2 10's on a plate with a MTX amp The alarm doesent do much good when they bust a window and open the hood and disconnect the battery in 10sec or less.
Jensen componets from now on "excluding the head unit"

Plans: Possibly add N20 for next season.
82 Firebird, 305/350 currently moth balled.
Current plans: Rebuild 305 with flat tops instead of the dished "cups" for pistons or slightly built 327 with the 58cc heads from the LG4, Upgrade the 2:73 to 3:73 or 3:42 and replace the turbo 350 with 700r4.

One time my old 91 RS was broken into by complete idiots. They broke both side windows just to unlock the doors (they could have broken one but it pisses me off when they broke 2 just to be destructive). Then they tore the crap out of my console and everything to try to get my stereo out, and it didn't even have a face plate. Then I took my car to more idiots, because the people that fixed everything left glass still everywhere and covered up my hatch release button. Not much was stolen or damaged that cost alot, it was just annoying.
