What companies make good alternators for high wattage stereo systems?

Who do you recommend or use for a stereo system that eventually will be pushing 1900 watts, and about what price range do they fall in?

Stinger and Phoenix Gold make good high output alternators. You can expect to pay a small fortune for one too. Whatever the stereo shop wants to charge, they charge.

What about rebuilding a stock one? I don't know if it's a good or bad idea. Any suggestions.

someone posted earlier that there was a rebuild kit for the alternator to convert to 140AMP as well, only $49.99.

says he bought the kit from Summit (www.summitracing.com) although i tried searching and the closest i got was a 140AMP rebuild kit for $99.99.

will post once i clear things up.

Try a Ohio Generator and another brand called ERG (or something like that). My buddy who competes with his corvette has an EGR and loves it.

My father recently purchased a 200A Powermaster alternator for about $400 from Summit. These should work well in conjunction with a good Optima battery and large gauge wiring.

my 190 from Ohio Generators works like a champ, just remember if you get that big of an alternator, need to run higher gauge wires from the alternator to battey and upgrade engine bay grounds and stuff or its pointless to get a larger alternator!
