Sub Box Aiming Help.... Have pic!!!

Just wondering how 1 15" sub aimed the way I have it in the drawing would sound? Most people aim their subs upwards... But how would it sound this way.... Or if the box was in the same position with the sub facing forward? Thanks....

Hi,

Bass notes are non directional for the most part. You feel bass more than you hear it. So you could put it face down in the hatch area and still get good results. The main thing that changes the bass is the box. A sealed box provides tighter bass than a ported box. So if you want big boom then it's not the direction it's the porting. If you want tight bass then keep the box sealed.

I have a vert with a small box that sits in the trunk. The woofer faces the rear of the car and I get big boom from it. I faced the woofer towards the front and found no difference what so ever.

The set-up you provide should work out fine. If you are planning on running some higher notes through the sub then it would reflect off the glass and bounce slightly towards the front, very slightly.

Why not shift it around and see what sounds best? If they all sound the same, I'd go for face up, with a beefy waffle-style grill over it

Oh, what side is the port on? You might not want to block the port with the carpet of the hatchback well...

I built a box with that type of setup and it slammed.

my cousin has one 15" audiobahn that he kinda wants to sell and i think i can talk him into selling it. anyway, if i put ports like it shows in my picture(credit to 383 Smoka, didn't wana make my own, it probably wouldn't look as good either.) would it help the sound, and feel of the bass at all. and how would i go about making the ports, would i just drill holes in the box, like 1"-3" holes, or would i cut them or what. thanks

ok, pic wont work, but what if i put two ports at the rear of the box and aimed them upwards toward the hatch??? that is what the pic had

Sometimes when you face it backwards it hits the back wall and then come back to oyu and sounds a lot heavier.
I used to have a 90 Ranger with a extended cab, which was house to a dual 12 Rockford box causing no one to be able to sit back there (). The box was sealed and facing towards me for the longest time, and when i turned it around it was an amazing feat.

Facing the sub backwards would give you more bottom end rumble response but you would probably notice a little less crisp punch. Also I doubt you will get a 15" sub and box into the bottom of the space you have. The other problem will be that if the sub actually hits the back wall of the car, this will cause excessive rattle, loss of certian tones and may eventully cause sub damage.

It fits back there perfect.... Its just a temporary setup until I get my new suspension because my car bottoms out with my 4 15's in the back with box.... But the 1 15 fits great.... Cant see it affecting the sub in any way.... Yes it prolly will rattle alot but I will try and stop that....

How in the world can you fit 4 15's in the cargo area? I am having a problem trying to get 3 12's to work.

U wanna know how to do it? Come to Hamilton here and go to East Hamilton Radio and give em 379.99 and they give u it....
Its not just in the rear well, it takes up half of the rear deck too...
But its well worth it if u have the power to boost the 15'z, which i do, and the suspension, which i will soon....
