Has anyone ever done a sub in the spare tire/storage well??

I remember people talking about it before, that you could get a 10" in a custom enclosure in the spare tire well or the storage space on the opposite side of the car.

Anyone done it? How much?

if you are looking for something custom i have a custom q-logic sub box that i'm looking to sell it holds two 10's. it was 300 bucks new it looks nice as hell the plastic matches the interior perfect the box has a molded plastic so it doesn't even look like a typical subwoofer box. they're very smooth. the color is gray but you could paint it to match the interior

Here is one that I'm currently working on for a 12 in the spare location...

along with the new amprack layout (I decided I didn't like the direction the original amp rack was headed)

I have one for sale. A fiberglass and MDF composite enclosure that fits in the spare tire well that holds one 12". I built this a few years back for my last firebird. It needs to be carpeted or put under a trim panel. This thing is very solid. I used it with a Solo-baric powered by a 400 watt RMS amp. I have built one into my GTA that holds two 12's in the spare well and one on the other side that holds one 12". This one is built in. Email me for pics of the single. I'll take 125 bucks or maybe trade for ?

'89 GTA 350, edelbrock headers, 3" exhaust, Flowmaster muffler, Crane HI-6 ignition, cone filter, KYB AGX shocks and struts, urethane bushings and motor mounts, more on the way. My fast car is a '91 NSX, B&M adjustable fuel pressure regulator, Flowmaster exhaust, no cats, Cantrell Concepts Ram air system. Still love my GTA.

Fix-a-flat, AAA, or any other means and your good to go...besides if you design it right, you should have plenty of room to place the spare in the well for long trips

my car died, dead batt... i oopened hood, then a group of friends came by, i was like, doods, and dudettes(not in those words), my cars dead, so then one doods, like, i got this, walks over, lifts leg, sticks butt out, nothing... then hes like, here pass me a tool... nothing, then the girls got him to take off his shirt, then like five min later after him running after a car full of girls, (lol, we werent looking for help at this point, but more of chicks.) and they circled came back, tried jumping with their POS and burned out My ECM some how..... bastards....
LoL...

stick your butt out and wave like your bootys on fire....

then if not, rinse, repeat, and call Triple A.
Or, remove the cardboard behind the other side and install sub in there, dont forget about Xmax etc, so the sub doesnt smash up each time the bass hits,

and i wanna see pics of the doods box that hes selling.....

Your talking about one that goes in the actual storage well right? I was hoping to keep that space open

Yes I am interested.

So...this is big enough for a 12" AND will fit in the spare compartment with the plastic trim piece on?

Also, do you know if it will fit in the opposite side of the spare?

Is it ported/sealed?

And what do you mean it is made of fiberglass and MDF?

Please give me pictures and more details.

Ok this web page is a must see (no its not mine) go to http//:www.theINSTALLATIONshop.com
go photos of custom cars and look at the 99 vette for instance, and check the misc. because you will see why you should never pay f-ing Q-Logic 300bones for anything when it really that easy to build. Trust me i do this biz daily.

Ok i know this is REALLY REALLY REALLY ghetto but you could make an enclosure out of one of those paint buckets. the big tall white plastic ones, i think they're called satchel buckets or something like. yea yea i've heard it all before of how lazy and cheap i am but it works great. all you have to do is reinforce the bottom with some mdf board on the inside, and make a lid for the bucket from some wood and cut out the diamter of the sub in that and stick it in there, to seal the lid just use epoxy or caulk it or something like that, EXTREMELY EASY and does the job great, and I believe it does fit in the spare tire well. I'll post some pics later when it's all set up in my car.

Even cheesier, Those round cardboard concrete forms. You'd be really surprised what you can do with a 10" form.
