has anyone ever moded rear speaker enclosure?
Ok, i put in a new pair of Infinity 6953i 6x9s in the rear, and they didn't sound as good as i would of hopped, especialy as far as bass response. However, i noticed that when i was putting them in, that a little work might be done to enclousure behind the speakers. has anyone tried doing anything to that area? would it be easy to make it air tight? or do my speakers just suck, anyone hear to have these?

Most of the modifications that I have seen to the 6x9 mounting space have been to create a plate/mounting surface for 6.5" speakers as a replacement. Nothing to adjust for 6x9's themselves, so I'm not sure.
You could try adding some sound deadening material (Dynamat, RAAMmat, etc.) to the back of the enclosure. It would be pretty easy to do, but I don't know if that would make a huge difference. By nature, 6x9's are generally manufactured and crossed-over to produce full range frequencies, focussing on midrange; not a great deal of bass.

so would a good component system (say a 6" woofer) for less then $150 be better then most 6x9's?
