question about rockfords

Hey guys, I'm still thinking about buying 2 10" rockford fosgate punch HE2's powered by a rockford fosgate punch 800.2 amp, i already have a custom box for my hatch (i'm buying my system in about a month, i get my license end of April!) anyway i was telling my friend about getting this system and he told me not to, that the cones crack on the HE2's or something like that. Is that true? or is my friend full of sh*t? What you guys think?
Thanks, Ted

No, those are great speakers for the price. They won't crack with that amp. That is the ideal amp to push hose speakers, the only way to crack the cone is to either underpower the speakers, which is just as disastrous as overpowering them, or not have your amp adjusted correctly and have too much distortion to the speakers at high volumes. Hope That helps...

Sounds like a good setup. I think your friend is nuts about the subs. Rockford makes a quality product. Ever think about the HX2's instead?

Hey guys thanks for the reply's. Mike, I was thinking about the HX2's, but there a lot of money, I found them for about $280, and the HE2's for about $120. I listen to mostly rap, techno/club ,do you guys think this system with the HE2's will really pound? Do you think people will hear me coming before they see me, or at least hear me from about 1/4 mile away? BTW I have a pioneer DEH-2300 cd player and good sony speakers in the front(2 way) and XS-692f 2 way speakers in the rear. The back speakers are each 140 watt speakers. Now without subs, when i turn the bass up and volume about halfway it sounds like I have little subs. The bass is pretty good because when i have it up my mom said that she could hear the bass when she was across the street in my neighbors house!
Thanks again guys, Ted

Rockfords are AWESOME! That's all I've had! **ok so i've only had 2 different sub setups...** but still! First I went and bought the buy one get one free RF Punch 12" subs... Had them on my RF Punch 100.2 amp... they were good... then I took them back and got 1 RF Punch HE 12" and bridged it on that same amp... and it hits HARD! My friends told me I was full of $#!+ when I told them I just had 1 12"... then they said I must have a huge amp... I told them it was just a 100W amp... then they made me tell the teacher we were goin 2 our lockers so we could go the parkin lot durin school and show them that I really had 1 12 and a 100W amp... They wouldn't wait til after school

Yeah man Rockford speakers kick @ss. I've had Dual 15" XLCs (2 yrs ago) now i have a single 15" HE2. These speakers pound if ya wannem too. I had the XLCs hooked to a 500a2 amp which was underated @ 650W RMS. And it would blow the doors off my old truck. Ya i had 2 15s in a S10 ext cab. I could never really turn em up all the way cause the crappy Sony Xplod deck would actually skip the bass was so hard. But i sold that to a buddy of mine and just went to the single 15" HE2 and am just waiting for the new Rockford amps to become availible to get another one. Oh ya i got another buddy with a '94 T/A and he has a single RF 10" HX2 in there and that thing super pounds. He has it on my old 500a2 wich i sold him. RF sub pound man plain and simple!!!!! Oh ya as for the cones seperating that only seem to be a problem on the RFZ Punch subs (bottom line) I've seen it happen before. The dealers usually know about it.

I just bought a house over on Dixon kinda by McDonalds on Brooks. You're lucky your not trying to drive your car over here right now. We probably have gotten a foot of snow over the last few days.

Thats what I heard, we haven't gotten much snow but it's been COLD! Last night it was -10 degrees, my car wouldn't even think about running in this weather. Take it easy man.
