stock 89' cd player
stock 89' cd player
ok, i still have the stock delco cd player from my bird. now the bird is gone and i may be getting a camaro. i was woundering if there is any place i can get this cd player serviced so it is working up to par. i also would be interested in somehow changing the the lights on it from red to green if possible. this may sound like a waste of time and money to be spent on a substandard cd player, but i think it looks cool. (very 80s' like the rest of the car) any advise would be a big help.
dude, radios even back to the mid 90s suck. Get a newer one unless you are going for a completely stock restoration.

Seeing as how this piece is from 89, it is unfortunately not cost effective to have it repaired if it is in non-working condition.
Head unit technology has come along way since then as well as the quality of the CD section (laser, suspension, dac, etc...)
If you want to keep a factory appearance, try to locate a later model delco from any other GM vehicle of around '97 or later and you should be good. You can use the mounting hardware from your old deck to mount the new one. Also you would need the new style wiring harness to replace the old large block style that I believe was still in use in 89.
If you are not concerned with factory appearance, a good qualtiy aftermarket deck can be had for not much more than it would cost you to have the original one repaired.
Just my $.02 on the whole thing.
