Alternator

My alternator recently died, probably due to my amp. I was looking for a higher output alternator. I saw this one on ebay: 180 amp alternator. Is this good? Will it over charge my battery? Finally, is it compatible with my car?

Thanks,

I am not so sure about the alternator on E-Bay, although with a bit of ingenuity, anything can be made to work;-) I do know for sure that GM/Delco sells 140 amp heavy duty alternators that should bolt right up to any F body engine configuration. BTW, 140 amps is more than enough for all but the most power hungry audio systems. Unless an alternator is malfunctioning, it will not over charge the battery, no matter what amperage it is rated at.
