Movible Sub Box
Movible Sub Box
I want to put a sub box in the well in the back of the trunk of my 84. I have looked at a box that is fairly shallow. My question is this: Has anybody ever used any mechanisim to make it so that the sub box can be moved? Like possibly hydralic lifters similar to the hatch lifters, or a modified power window motor and guide rails? I ask 'cause I would like to use the space left over in the well if I use a shallow sub box, with making it a little more "custom" than a couple of handles and brute strength.

Motorizing a well made sub box is going to be expensive.
The hatch lifters will work. I would think about setting it up over the well, over the top. Then have a heavy duty hing on one end, and actuators to keep it up (the hydrolic kind anyway). Or you can just use the hinge, put a handle at the other end and muscle it up without have to muscle it too much (the hinge means you can do it with one hand and put stuff in with the other.)
