Now what?
Now what?
Ok, so I took off the cover for the 6x9's in the back and I took out the speaker with a torch wrench. Now I have the new speakers and the old speakers. How do I disconnect the old ones? There is a blue and a black thing holding them together and I can't disconnect them. How do I do this? Thanks.

Well, I got the blue plug separated from the black one, but now the black thing is still on the speaker, and the new one won't fit without that device, so how do I put the new speaker on? It's my first speaker install so I'm just learning here

well, heres where you run into trouble installing new speakers using factory wire. Since there is no standard with speaker wire connectors .... it makes it a pain. If you order speakers from places liek crutchfield, they give you adapters for your new speakers. Try calling up places tomorrow and see if they sell them. If not, then you have to do some riggin with solder and wire. B is the +. and A is the -. Im 99% sure on that.

answered it while I was writing. I take too long
Just do what deadtrend said or run new wire. Stock GM wire is not very good quality.

If you don't care about retaining the original clip for the factory speakers, you can just cut it off and crimp on the connectors for the new speaker (usually come with the speakers or you can buy new spades that fit). If you want to retain the factory clip then you have one of two options...T-Taps, which I don't much recomend, but they get the job done...or run new wire from the deck or amp back to the 6x9 location (not very hard to do)

go down to your local stereo shop and buy 30ft of Lightning Audio 14-16 gauge speaker wire, and redo all your speakers, its pretty easy to do, thats what i did, it gives u a better power transfer to your speakers from your deck, so it will make em sound a little better
Thanks for the help guys, I appreciate it. So if I wanted to just cut the wire and put the wire that came with the speaker, how would I do that? Should I just cut off the whole blue thing on the standard wire and attach that factory wire to the new speaker?

Ok, I'm going to cut off the blue adapter and just wire that wire to the new speaker. Hopefully I know what I'm doing
